Students from Grades 6 – 8 travelled to Georgian College in Midland yesterday to learn about career possibilities in the trades. Students took part in hands-on learning workshops where they experienced what it would be like to be a student at Georgian College (or other college programs in Ontario) in either a college program or an apprenticeship program. The four trades they had an opportunity to explore were plumbing, electrical, roof trusses, and small engine repair. This initiative was sponsored by Georgian College and Trillium Lakelands District School Board’s pathways programs. Feedback from our students indicated that it was a very worthwhile initiative and they are most appreciative of the opportunity to learn a little bit more about career possibilities.
